SUPER BOWL SOCKS!

Good news everybody.

"Ambassador Devine." I like that.

“Ambassador Devine.” I like that.

This week I found out that I’ll be an ambassador again this year for PRO Compression. Yup, and I’ve got the cool emblem here to prove it.

I’m a compression sock/calf sleeve convert and if you don’t know about the advantages of compressions socks/gear, then be sure to give a read here. CHECK IT OUT!

This “Big Game” weekend PRO Compression is doing a Super Bowl sale, giving 40% off all the items in their store with free shipping on all orders over $20 (now you know how you can spend the money you win on your Super Bowl pool).

And they’ve got compression socks whether you’re a Patriots fan, Seahawk supporter or just cheering on the commercials like me this year (Green Bay will be back in 2015). Read the rest of this entry

MONDAY TIDBITS

Hi Everyone,

Race trimmings.

Race trimmings.

Just a quick post today with two tidbits:

First off, a post mortem from yesterday’s race: The Santa To The Sea Half Marathon.

Yup, this was my last race of 2014… race #17 of 17.

My goal time for the race was simply to come in at 2:10:00 or below.

Fortunately, my legs didn’t let me down and I crossed the finish line with a whole 6 seconds to spare.

You can check out my race stats below. Read the rest of this entry

MAN TIGHTS! (AND LADIES TOO)

The big squeeze just got squeezier!

The big squeeze just got squeezier!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. And given all of the power-eating that went on yesterday, I’m pretty sure all of our pants are fitting just a tad bit tighter.

Well, speaking of “tight”… I want to talk to you about MAN TIGHTS!

(Pardon the lazy segue; credit it to a tryptophan hangover. And yes, I know the whole turkey tryptophan thing is a myth).

But back to MAN TIGHTS!

Today, the gang at PRO Compression are debuting compression tights for men (Ladies compression tights and leggings are also available). Read the rest of this entry

Hi Trippers!

Get your squeeze on!

Get your squeeze on!

I hope everyone had a good Halloween weekend and enjoyed that extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning (sometimes it’s nice just to “fall back”).

It’s time for another giveaway at Tripping The Kenyans and it’s a good one.

The fine folks at PRO Compression want to deck you out with a FREE pair of marathon compression socks or calf sleeves.

I started wearing PRO Compression calf sleeves during races and the marathon compression socks afterward for speedier recovery. And it’s really helped me bounce back quicker. Read the rest of this entry

HUMP DAY TIDBITS

Fun with made-up words!

Fun with made-up words!

Hi Trippers!

Just a quick pair of tidbits today keeping you “informated*.”

*NOTE: Okay, I know that “informated” isn’t a word, but rather a typo I just made. But doesn’t it look like it should be a word?

Okay, sometimes my brain gets way ahead of my fingers (not that I’m the greatest typist to begin with… I’m fast, but not accurate) and I come up with some wonderful typos that can confound even smartest of spellcheck programs. So in honor of my fingers having a mind of their own, I’m going to keep that word and use it occasionally. How’s this for a definition?

Informated (verb): to haphazardly impart one’s supposed knowledge to others in the hopes of broadening their understanding on a topic or at least making them smile over use of such a silly word.

“I informated to everyone that while ketchup is a wonderful condiment, mustard should be used in its place on hot dogs as a gesture of goodwill.”

COMPRESSION CONVERT

Hi Trippers!

Sock me!

Sock me!

After a brief hiatus following the OC Marathon, it was back to the gym yesterday to work out my “man gams” and start prepping for the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in 3 1/2 weeks. During my two day hiatus, however, I noticed a big difference in comparison to how I felt following the LA Marathon back in March.

The day after the LA Marathon I lumbered around like Frankenstein’s monster (complete with incomprehensible groaning… and a fear of pitchfork wielding townsfolk). But this past Monday, just one day removed from my 26.2 mile Newport Beach jaunt, I was walking around with very little real discomfort (still scared of armed townsfolk though). So what was the difference between then and now? Had I improved my level of fitness tenfold? Acquired mutant recuperative powers like Wolverine (and hopefully retractable Adamantium claws)?

Nope.

The answer is a pair of socks… compression socks to be more specific.
