I much prefer running in the cold. I am naturally warm, so when I run in the heat, I overheat quickly. I might change my mind if I lived somewhere with an extraordinary amount of snow, but cold temperatures as a rule are my preference!
I agree. I tell people all of the time I could sweat in a snowstorm. The heat does impact me and I do prefer running in cooler weather (waiting for the race to start in the cold isn’t so much fun though). And I remember after the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving (it was 22 degrees out) looking at my shoulders and seeing the steam radiate off of my body. That’s right ladies… I guess I am hot (literally) after all. 🙂
Hi, love your blog!
I’m gonna go against the grain and say I prefer the sauna. I guess it’s easy for me to say, as I don’t overheat easily and the heat doesn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother other runners. I also live in Wisconsin, where we are coming off a bitterly cold winter in which I did many a long run and race with temps in the teens and single digits. I’m over it, especially having to throw on so many layers to go out and run. 22 and 25 degrees seem like nothing after the January we had 🙂
Thanks for the comment. I’m a Wisconsin boy myself. Lived in America’s Dairyland (just north of Milwaukee) off and on for about 10 years. I also graduated Madison back in ’91. I remember that coldness (brrr)… don’t miss it. So I totally understand you wanting to run in warm weather. I’m coming back to Madison in August to run the Madison half… here’s hoping it’s not too hot (or can I blame you). Thanks for commenting and reading. And go Badgers!
Awesome! I’ll be running that one as well!
Excellent. I’m looking forward to some time in Madtown (and stocking up on Badger gear). Let’s reconnect closer to raceday and hopefully we can say “hi” at the race.
For sure!
