LOGO LOCO…

The Nike swoosh.

Lots o' logos

Lots o’ logos

Target’s red bullseye.

The Apple apple (complete with a bite taken out of it).

All of those are good examples of recognizable company logos.

And what’s the point of having a logo? According to Ask.com, “The primary purpose of a logo is to give a visual identity to a company or brand.”

Ask.com has a logo too, by the way, it’s a red oval with the word “Ask” inside.

You see a logo and immediately think of a brand. At least that’s the idea. Read the rest of this entry

“REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD.”

On March 15th of this year, the many members of Team To End AIDS, gathered before dawn at Dodger Stadium to brave the “Stadium to the Sea” course for the annual running of the LA Marathon. It was a wonderful time as our squad triumphantly traipsed through the streets of LA, Hollywood, WeHo, Westwood and finally Santa Monica in near record heat (yup, it was a hot one).

However, once we crossed the finish line, gathered our race bling and gave each other some sweaty congratulatory hugs, many of us went our separate ways. Read the rest of this entry

PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW…

New Girl in town.

New Girl in town.

Last year I wrote a love letter about my Garmin Forerunner 305 (aka “Becky”).

I waxed poetic about her wondrous qualities and charming idiosyncrasies. And how we were running soulmates destined to be together until dead battery do us part.

(It’s one of my favorite posts and you can read it here).

Well, sadly, Becky and I are finally going our separate ways.

Her battery hasn’t been holding its charge lately. She no longer syncs easily to Garmin Connect. And two weeks ago one of her straps broke during my long run.

In addition, I’m starting a bit of a running reboot and change is the order of the day.

It was time. Read the rest of this entry

TAKING A BREAK & SHAKING THINGS UP…

Last weekend was the OC Marathon/Half Marathon, a race that I’ve run the last two years and had planned to do again in 2015.

Whoa boy.

Whoa boy.

But I didn’t run it.

Instead, I slept in that morning and then read about and congratulated a bunch of my friends who completed the race (and did well). Why, you may ask, did I skip a race I wanted to do?

Simple, I’m a bit burned out.

Sometimes you gotta take a much needed breather.

And sometimes you gotta shake things the hell up.

Basically, that’s where I am right now in regards to racing and running. Read the rest of this entry

PUTTING THE “FRESH” TO THE TEST

Hi Everyone,

Here there be Freshly

Here there be Freshly

Remember about a week or so ago I told you all about the gourmet food service Freshly* and how I was going to offer myself up as a human “guinea pig” to test out their service… and in the process spare myself seven whole days of cooking?

We should all be so lucky to not have to cook, right?

Well, I’m happy to say “test concluded.” And here’s how it all went down.

For starters, I got to go to Freshly’s website and select my grub from their on-line menu. Clickety-click and it was done. BTW, you can check out their current menu listings here: FRESHLY MENU. Read the rest of this entry

“FADE TO BLACK…”

Hi Everyone,

Fade In:

Fade In:

For those of you who who regularly check out Tripping The Kenyans (thank you so much, by the way) you might have noticed that my posts have been a little fewer and farther between the last few weeks.

The thing is, I’ve been writing like crazy.

Just not for this blog.

Don’t worry, I’m not writing for another blog behind your back.

That’d be silly. If I was writing for another blog, I’d sure as hell be telling you to check that one out too (I’ll gladly take all of the publicity I can muster).

Nope, I’ve been finishing up a feature script.

In other words, my day job. Read the rest of this entry
