What do you think of when you see the number “300“?
Well, if you’re a bowling aficionado, you think of a perfect game. Yup, toss 12 strikes in a row and you achieve bowling’s holy grail.
Homer Simpson did it once… then again, what hasn’t Homer Simpson done?
What if bowling isn’t your game and you’re more of a movie nut.
Well, then 300 conjures up slo-motion images of chiseled Spartans laying waste to waves of Xerxes’ forces trying to storm the Hot Gates.
Oh, and if you want to compare Frank Miller’s graphic novel to Zack Snyder’s film, just know that in the comic book the Spartans not only “fight in the shade,” they also fight in the nude. Seriously.
While I do on occasion bowl (never a pretty sight) and am a fan of some cinematic carnage (especially when accompanied by Tyler Bates’ musical score), I just wanted to bring to your attention another source of 300.
This past week I posted article #300 on Tripping The Kenyans. Yup, I get to celebrate my blogging tricentennial.
So, for those of you who have been long time “trippers” (if you consider Jan. 2014 a long time) I say “damn, you’ve been here a while.”
And for those of you who are new to my ramblings, I say “what took you so damn long?” Strike that. I say “welcome” and “why not check out an old post or two. There’s some funny stuff amidst the banter.”
Thank you all for reading… and I guess it’s time to get cracking on my next post.
400, here I come.
