“AT LEAST I RAN” AND “HOORAY FOR 100!”

Hi Trippers!

It was either this or a Walk of Fame shot.

It was either this or a “Walk of Fame” shot.

Another two tidbit day as I’m in the middle of a crazy deadline at work.

And the first “tid” directly relates to my “day gig.” Working in Hollywood often means some uber-insane hours and a schedule that at times throws everything (including caution) to the wind. In the past when crunch time hit, I would jettison much of my common sense in order to meet a deadline. The first two things that dropped off my “to do” list were exercise and proper eating. Working out and sensible meals gave way to being sedentary and surviving off of takeout. Deadlines were always met, but at the expense of many things, including my health and waistline.

“Scott 2.0” still makes deadlines, but exercise is not optional… no way, no how. I would much rather give up that extra hour of sleep if it means the chance to get my sweat on. Even if I have to do a truncated workout, I find the time… correction… I make the time to hit the gym or pound the pavement. Not only is it great for the body, it’s even better for the mind. I’m energized, think clearer and am better able to handle whatever madness Tinseltown wants to throw at me.

That way, even when H’wood is done scraping me off of its boot for the day, I can pick myself up, smile and say “At least I ran.”

And no one can take that away.

...and counting.

…and counting.

“Tid” number two came to me as a little bit of a surprise. When I submitted my post “Holding out for a Hero” the other day, I got a nice little notification from WordPress that I had just put up my 100th post for Tripping The Kenyans… not too shabby for a little site that is only about to celebrate its three-month anniversary.

When I first started writing TTK, I had no idea what it would turn out to be. I had a few ideas, but my initial goal was just to post something every day for the first two months and see how things went. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

My thanks to all of you “Trippers” who have subscribed to the blog or check it out on Facebook, Twitter and through word of mouth. And please tell your friends to stop on by… anyone who has the desire to get from “A to B” or wants to laugh is welcome here. I hope you have had as much fun reading TTK as I’ve had writing it. I read every comment that comes my way and I appreciate any suggestions, ideas or criticisms you might have.

Gracias "Trippers."

Gracias “Trippers.”

And I also want you to know that I’ve got plans to grow TTK. I’ve got some ideas (some big, some small) and I’ll be trying things out in the weeks and months to come. If any work, they’ll become regular additions to the site. If any come across like “New Coke” or “Ishtar,” well then they’ll be given the old “heave-ho.” Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The one thing I can guarantee you won’t change, though, is my love for running and my appreciation for your support.

Thanks again for stopping by today and every other day.

Run on!

  1. Im officially a “Tripper”!!!! Lol

  2. Scott — I find when I ‘make’ the time to run, even with crazy schedules, I much happier and much less crazy. Good job!

    • Thanks for the comment. I think of the saying “If something is important, you make the time.” I always feel better after a workout. And when you have a crazy schedule, that’s when you absolutely need to make some time.

  3. You are such a good writer, I’m sure your blog will keep on growing.

    • Thank you very much… I appreciate the comment and your support. And yours is one of the first blogs I look for when I click on my reader. I really enjoy it. Blog on and run on!
